[ location: town, early morning. ]
[ Graham doesn't really get days off. He never knows what to do with himself when he gets days off anyway, a restless hum under his bones (or is that emptiness instead) and lately he's taken to running through the forest in the early mornings to clear his head. He likes it there. It makes him feel— it sounds stupid, even to himself, but it feels right. Relaxing, he supposes.
By the time he makes it back to town, it's still early. He'd finished earlier than he meant to and he takes advantage of it by walking slowly back to his apartment, a familiar ache in his muscles and his hair damp with sweat at the back of his neck. He doesn't know how he knows — he couldn't explain it if he tried — but Graham thinks it might rain, later today. ]

It was still strange, the weight of the deputy badge on her belt and the new role she has in this town. She isn't sure if she likes it much-- but if it means a reason to stay and the ability to at least make sure that Henry is alright, then it's worth it.
Emma is now idly driving around the town in the deputy car, her eyes peeled for any suspicious activity as the sun begins to rise and the thick fog which had settled over the town begins to lift. The only thing she sees, though, is the familiar figure of Graham emerging from the woods. Her brows furrow, and she drives a bit faster to pull up next to the male. A part of Emma isn't sure how to confront him after last night, but what she does know is that he should be back at his apartment and resting. And so she rolls down her window to voice just that.]
Shouldn't you be home?

I was feeling a little restless, [ he tells her. ] Needed some air.

She drums her fingers against the steering wheel of the car before looking back up at Graham. ]
Are you feeling any better?

I'm really sorry, Emma. About the other day. It was completely out of character, I promise.

Don't worry about it, Graham. I'm just glad you're feeling better.
[ Her gaze locks with his for several moments, and the smile she wears becomes a bit nervous. She doesn't like that Mary's words have gotten to her, the way that she sees her colleague in a slightly different light now. But she catches herself staring, and clears her throat before averting her gaze. ]
Do you need a ride home?
[scenario: memoried 'David']
[On this occasion he wants to be with the town. When he's standing on the waterfront, facing the lake with the town behind him and the crisp breeze coming off the water, he can almost believe he's not in the wrong world at all.
[Almost. It feels as if it's been an eternity, and nothing he's done has helped.]
((OOC: 'David' here is AU too; details in his profile or over here for reference. :3))
