[ event: Flashback ]

Once upon a time, the people of Storybrooke were once the characters from the fairy tales we all grew up with. Then the curse hit and everyone was trapped without their memories in the town we know quite well already.

We all know that story, of course, but what about before the curse? Well, that's where this post comes in. There are untold stories from before the curse that we would like to investigate and these flashbacks posts are where you tell them. Post with your character (with a location or plot idea if you wish) and tag others, as long as they are in their fairy tale forms (sorry Henry and Emma players). We ask that you warn for spoilers in your subject line if you intend to use knowledge gained from tonight's episode in your scenario. Thank you!

Remember, everyone, play nice and have fun.

Who said he still likes us? [ Robin grins teasingly. ]

[She lifts her eyebrow mockingly, a smirk hovering on the corners of her mouth.]

True. I can't imagine why anyone would.

It's only a working relationship, I'm sure. [ He rolls his eyes, humor never leaving the gaze. ] I'll be the first to admit me and my crew are difficult to work with.

Who are you and what have you done with my Robin?
pettythief: (➵ Ah‚ but while there is a merry man)

[personal profile] pettythief 2011-12-14 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
As I said before... [ He gives a large grin. ] My name is Robert, milady.

[identity profile] maidfromashes.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Her smile is a mixture of plain amusement, mischief and exasperation.]

Obviously I'm dancing with the wrong person. You're a cad for misleading me, sir.

You'll have to forgive me. How could I resist such a beautiful maiden?

[identity profile] maidfromashes.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
A beautiful maiden who knows better than to trust a flatterer.

Even when the flatterer speaks only the truth?

[identity profile] maidfromashes.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
Especially when the flatterer speaks only the truth.

Then we seem to have come to an impasse. [ He lowers his head so that his cheek rests against her hair while they dance. He can't let all of his guard down, but he knows how to balance his attention. This is nice. ]

[identity profile] maidfromashes.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
[She moves slightly closer to make it easier, closing her eyes with a sigh. The dance is slow enough that they can manage it, for the moment, even if it isn't the same as the merry dances around the campfire in Robin's camp.]

I'm afraid you might have the best of me, Sir Robert.

I assure you, it's mutual.

[ His voice has dropped into comfortable murmur. This is stupid to be loitering around so much, yet Robin knows the only one who will reprimand him for taking a relatively short amount of time with Marian is himself; Will is too set in his role of matchmaker to pay it much mind and he doubts James would even understand. ]

[identity profile] maidfromashes.livejournal.com 2011-12-15 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Such reassurance from a flatterer.

[She says it teasingly and for a few minutes Marian is content to remain like this, but on their next turn she spots, in her peripheral vision, some of the ladies looking sidelong in their direction, their heads bowed toward each other while they whisper. She sighs and murmurs:]

We've attracted some attention.
pettythief: (➵ Laughin’ back and forth)

[personal profile] pettythief 2011-12-15 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Guess that means I'll have to go play nice with another lucky young lady. [ He chuckles softly. ] Don't get jealous now, Marian.

[identity profile] maidfromashes.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
What reason could I possibly have to get jealous over a flatterer who misled me?

[Even so, as the song draws to a close her grip on his hand and shoulder tightens, her body swaying forward as if by accident to press her head more firmly against his. Then the music ends and she steps back into a courtesy, still looking up at him through her eyelashes with a small winsome and almost sultry smile. (Fortunately, of course, she is turned away from the ladies and so they can't see just how she's looking at him.)]

[ Unfortunately, the position puts him in prime view of the women, so the best he can do is give her a cordial and overly polite smile in return. He takes her hand to kiss it perfunctorily, but gives it a small squeeze before he steps away and goes to make nice with the rest of the locals. They'll speak more later. ]

[That may have been deliberate--just so she could tease him without him being able to respond. Smirking a little, she turns to leave the dance floor, knowing she'll be mobbed as soon as she has. After all, it's not like Robin was here, and she could spin all the tales she wanted about that flattered Robert ...]
